Program Notice: Expanded Inspection Bodies program for commercial and industrial gas-fired installations

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased to announce that the Program for the Accreditation of Inspection Bodies has been extended to include organizations that evaluate commercial and industrial gas-fired appliances and equipment for safety and suitability. The program scope will apply to one-of-a-kind and limited run commercial and industrial gas-fired appliances and equipment manufactured in Canada or imported for use in Canada, that may be designed for installation at a specific site or assembled on-site.

Accreditation to this program will be based on CAN-P-8 (adoption of ISO/IEC 17020), CAN-P-1608 and IAF-ILAC-A4:2004 Guidance on the Application of ISO/IEC 17020. The program-specific criteria for the new subject area can be found in Appendix C of CAN-P-1608.
