Organic Regulations Update

Please be advised that on June 30th 2009, the regulations under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)'s Canada Organic Regime are in effect. Accreditations for organic certification bodies for Canada are now granted by the CFIA based on a recommendation provided by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). This recommendation follows the successful completion of the SCC assessment process. Applications continue to be made to the SCC. Information about the Canada Organic Regime can be found at:

The accreditation provided by CFIA will be recognized by the USDA National Organic Program as equivalent.  Information on this equivalency agreement can be found at:

SCC continues to grant accreditation to this Certification Body to the European Union requirements.
