Remarkable contributors chosen as 2010 SCC Awards Recipients

Ottawa, Ontario (July 14, 2010)—The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) today announced the recipients of the 2010 SCC Awards.

“The work of the individuals and organizations selected for these awards is a testament to what can be achieved when there is a true commitment to standardization,” said John Walter, SCC Executive Director. “My congratulations and thanks to the 2010 awards recipients as well as the nominees. Their important contributions to Canada’s National Standards System, while often unnoticed, are of tremendous value to us all, as Canadians.”

2010 Awards Recipients:

  • Jean P. Carrière Award: Dr. Maurice Douek
  • Roy A. Philips Award: Mr. J. Graham Cameron
  • SCC Leadership Award: Dr. George S.K. Wong
  • SCC Award of Excellence: Dr. Wael Badawy
  • SCC Distinguished Service Award: Ms. Maureen O’Neill
  • SCC Special Achievement Award: Canadian Standards Association – B51 Technical Committee
  • McMahon Dedicated Service Award: Mr. Darryl Kingston
  • Corporate Commitment Award: Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA)

The SCC Awards are presented biennially in recognition of notable individual and organizational contributions to voluntary standardization and conformity assessment. The 2010 SCC Awards will be presented in Ottawa on October 14th, 2010 as part of the SCC’s World Standards Day celebrations.

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is a Crown Corporation with the mandate to promote the efficient and effective use of standardization.
