Chantal Marin-Comeau joins SCC management team

Ottawa, Ontario (April 20th, 2010)—The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Chantal Marin-Comeau to the position of Managing Director, Standardization.

"We are very pleased to welcome Chantal to our management team," said John Walter, SCC’s Executive Director.  "She has held numerous positions within the federal government and the private sector, and brings a wealth of expertise and experience to her role which will prove invaluable as SCC strives to support Canada’s key standardization priorities."

Ms. Marin-Comeau began her career in standards and conformity assessment, at the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation, where she headed up the International Division and oversaw the management of large-scale projects in over a half a dozen countries.

Within the Acquisitions pillar of Library and Archives Canada, Ms. Marin-Comeau lead a significant modernization initiative and was instrumental in developing and implementing major horizontal initiatives.

Prior to joining the SCC, Ms. Marin-Comeau was Director of the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB). In this capacity, she was responsible for the delivery of a broad range of standards development and conformity assessment services, including programs for the certification of the federal government’s procurement and materiel management community, products and services, as well as occupational health, food safety, quality and environmental management systems.

Ms. Marin-Comeau holds a Master's degree in Health Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Ottawa.

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is a Crown corporation with the mandate to promote the efficient and effective use of standardization.
