Asset Publisher FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 2010-05-04 First Annual Public Meeting of the Standards Council of CanadaOttawa, Ontario (May 4, 2010) – The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased to announce that its first annual public meeting will be held on June 9th, 2010 at the Novotel Hotel in Ottawa from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. At this first public meeting, stakeholders and members of the public will have the opportunity to learn about the SCC’s role, operations and strategic objectives. Following presentations by Chairman Hugh Krentz and Executive Director John Walter, participants will be able to ask questions, make observations, and interact with key members of the SCC’s senior management and board of directors. In order to give Canadians the opportunity to participate, the meeting will be offered via webcast from the SCC website. To facilitate the process, viewers and attendees of the meeting will be asked to submit their questions and to register in advance. The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is a Crown Corporation with the mandate to promote the efficient and effective use of standardization. Located in Ottawa, the SCC is a portfolio of Industry Canada with a 15 member governing Council and approximately 83 staff. The SCC coordinates the work of the National Standards System, and offers a range of standardization-related programs and services that are intended to enhance the social and economic well-being of Canadians.
