Multilateral Recognition Agreements (MLA) are voluntary agreements among accreditation bodies that operate on the basis of the recognition of technical equivalency among signatories. The SCC has signed a number of MLAs. Voluntary MLAs facilitate greater harmonization and recognition of standards and conformance systems and may lead to reduced duplicative testing and certification. This can improve time to market and lessens potential barriers to trade.
