PNUE

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was established in 1972 to encourage international parties to work together to promote global cooperation in guaranteeing sustainable development of the environment. Its efforts include evaluating environmental conditions, developing international environmental instruments, and improving environmental management systems (EMS) like ISO 14000. The SCC accredits organizations that provide third party verification that a business or organization has met the requirements of the ISO 14000 series of environmental management standards.
