In accordance with the resolution 3 of the Philadelphia Meeting:

Resolution 3: Periodic Review of JTC 1/SC 34 Standards
JTC 1/SC 34 recommends that ISO/IEC 10180:1995, Information Technology—Text Composition—Standard Page Description Language (SPDL), up for five-year review in 2000 be reaffirmed, on the condition that a National Body provide an editor to maintain the standard.

WG2 Convener contacted with Mr. Akinori Okubo of Ricoh. He accepted to act as an editor to maintain the SPDL(ISO/IEC 10180).

[Project JTC1.34.27.04]

In accordance with the resolution 4 of the Philadelphia Meeting:

Resolution 4: Registration Authority for ISO/IEC 10036
SC 34 notes the possibility of Japan's assuming responsibility of the Registration Authority for ISO/IEC 10036 and requests that a final decision on whether someone in Japan will be able to do this be taken by 1 June 2000.

WG2 Convener contacted with Prof. Yamanouchi of GLOCOM. He recognized the importance of 10036 Registration and confirmed that the GLOCOM will be able to take responsibility of registration authority for ISO/IEC 10036. GLOCOM's position is shown in SC34 N0145.

SC34 Japan discussed the topic of ISO/IEC 10036 registration and identified that the registration should be carried out on Internet environment. It requires some corrigenda to the existing specification on ISO/IEC 10036. Those requirements are summarized in SC34/WG2 N31.

[Project JTC1.]

SC34 Japan found some errors on DSSSL(ISO/IEC 10179:1996). They are listed on SC34/WG2 N32. Those errors reported in SC34/WG2 N32 as well as in SC18/WG8 N1883 and N1918 should be processed to be Technical Corrigendum 1 to DSSSL.

SC34 Japan requires some extensions to DSSSL as shown in SC34/WG2 N33. They should be dealt with in Amendment 1 to DSSSL.
