Projects for Amendments to ISO/IEC TR 19758

In the recommendation (SC34 N422) of last SC34/WG2 meeting, we approved the subdivided project:

Project Number Title Project Editor

34.19758.01

ISO/IEC TR 19758:2003, Information technology - Document Description and Processing Languages - DSSSL library for complex compositions, Amendment 1

Gen Nagamura and Yushi Komachi

to satisfy the user requirements (SC34 N419) for extensions to

  • Tables
  • Basic composition styles
  • Multilingual compositions.

Editors' visit to Asian countries and discussions with experts found a number of comments from the countries; China, Korea, Singapore, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Mongolia. Their comments are shown in the documents SC34/WG2 N136 through N147.

Considering the comments, WG2 should change its strategy on Amendments to DSSSL Library. They should be developed as multiple texts:

  • Amd.1: Extensions to Basic Composition Styles and Tables
  • Amd.2: Extensions to Multilingual Compositions (including requirements of South/East-Asian countries)
  • Amd.3: Extensions to Multilingual Compositions (including requirements of other Asian countries).

The corresponding Project IDs are tr19758a1, tr19758a2 and tr19758a3 respectively. Their project editors are Gen Nagamura and Yushi Komachi.
