Report of SC34/WG2

1. ISO/IEC 9541, Font information interchange

1.1 Amd.2 to ISO/IEC 9541-2 (Font information interchange - Interchange format)

The FPDAM text (SC34 N956) was circulated. The FPDAM ballot will be closed in April 14, 2008.

1.2 Amd.4 to ISO/IEC 9541-1 (Font information interchange - Architecture)

The FPDAM text (SC34 N958) was circulated. The FPDAM ballot will be closed in April 14, 2008.

1.3 Amd.2 to ISO/IEC 9541-3 (Font information interchange - Glyph Shape Representation)

In accordance with Resolution 9 adopted at the SC 34 plenary meeting held in Kyoto, SC34 submitted the proposed modifications (SC34 N977, JTC1 N8889) to its Programme of Work for JTC1 endorsement. By the 60 day default ballot, new subproject for Amd.2 (Additional Shape Representation Technology for Open Font Format) to ISO/IEC 9541-3 was endorsed.

As shown in SC34 N999, the circulated PDAM text (SC34 N962) was approved. Disposition of the comments to the PDAM text will be discussed in the WG2 meeting in Oslo to develop an FPDAM text.

1.4 ISO/IEC 9541-4 (Font information interchange - Harmonization to Open Font Format)

In accordance with Resolution 9 adopted at the SC 34 plenary meeting held in Kyoto, SC34 submitted the proposed modifications (SC34 N977, JTC1 N8889) to its Programme of Work for JTC1 endorsement. By the 60 day default ballot, title and scope changes of ISO/IEC 9541-4 were endorsed.

As shown in SC34 N998, the circulated CD text (SC34 N961) was approved. Disposition of the comments to the CD text will be discussed in the WG2 meeting in Oslo to develop an FCD text.

1.5 Liaison statement to SC29/WG11 on defects of ISO/IEC 14496-22

The liaison statement SC34 N960 was forwarded to SC29/WG11 and discussed in the SC29/WG11 meeting. SC29 response to the liaison statement is SC34 N1005 (SC29 N9090), which shows that the correction will be included in the 2nd edition of ISO/IEC 14496-22 (CD text: SC29 N9270).

1.6 Liaison statement to SC29/WG11 on ISO/IEC 14496-4/FPDAM26 (Coding of audio-visual objects -- Part 4: Conformance testing, AMENDMENT 26: Conformance levels and bitstreams for Open Font Format)

WG2 font experts had an opportunity to review ISO/IEC 14496-4/FPDAM26 and summarized their comments as a liaison statement to SC29/WG11. The Liaison statement (SC34 N985) was forwarded (in Feb. 15, 2008) to SC29/WG11 but there has been no response from SC29/WG11.

2. ISO/IEC 24754, Minimum requirements for specifying document rendering systems

The FDIS text was developed in the last WG2 meeting in Kyoto. It was slightly modified and posted as SC34 N954rev and forwarded (in March 17, 2008) to ITTF for FDIS ballot.
