Report of SC34/WG2

Major activities taken by SC34/WG2 after the last meeting are shown:

1. ISO/IEC 9541, Font information interchange

1.1 Amd.2 to ISO/IEC 9541-2 (Font information interchange - Interchange format)

The FPDAM ballot was closed in April 14, 2008 and the FPDAM text (SC34 N956) was approved without any objections and comments (SC34 N1031). The FPDAM text should be updated into an FDAM text with a slight modification.

1.2 Amd.4 to ISO/IEC 9541-1 (Font information interchange - Architecture)

The FPDAM ballot was closed in April 14, 2008 and the FPDAM text (SC34 N958) was approved without any objections and comments (SC34 N1032). The FPDAM text should be updated into an FDAM text with a slight modification.

1.3 Amd.2 to ISO/IEC 9541-3 (Font information interchange - Glyph Shape Representation)

The FPDAM ballot was closed in Aug. 29, 2008 and the FPDAM text (SC34 N1036) was approved (SC34 N1067). Disposition of the comments on the FPDAM text will be discussed in the WG2 meeting in Jeju to develop an FDAM text.

1.4 ISO/IEC 9541-4 (Font information interchange - Harmonization to Open Font Format)

The FCD ballot was closed in Aug. 29, 2008 and the FCD text (SC34 N1037) was approved (SC34 N1068). Disposition of the comments on the FCD text will be discussed in the WG2 meeting in Jeju to develop an FDIS text.

1.5 Font related issues specified in the OOXML

Some font experts in WG2 have reviewed the OOXML from the fonts' point of view (WG2 N330). They will clarify the user requirements for font information in interchanging OOXML documents.

1.6 Liaison statement on ISO/IEC 14496-4/FPDAM26 (Coding of audio-visual objects -- Part 4: Conformance testing, AMENDMENT 26: Conformance levels and bitstreams for Open Font Format)

Responding to the liaison statement (SC34 N985) including WG2 comments on ISO/IEC 14496-4/FPDAM26, SC29/WG11 forwarded a liaison (SC29 N9422) to SC34/WG2.

1.7 Liaison statement on Harmonization of ISO/IEC 9541 with ISO/IEC 14496-22

SC29/WG11 forwarded the liaison (WG2 N9664) to SC34/WG2. It will be reviewed and discussed in the WG2 meeting in Jeju to draft WG2 response.

2. ISO/IEC 24754, Minimum requirements for specifying document rendering systems

The FDIS text was approved as shown in SC34 N1052. The project editors finalized the text including FDIS comments and forwarded it to ITTF. The ISO/IEC 24754 was published on 2008-08-15 (SC34 N1057). WG2 thanks and appreciates the works of the project editors.
