Environmental Standardization for electrical and electronic products and systems (CSC/IEC/TC 111)

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking interested parties to participate in the committee on Environmental Standardization for electrical and electronic products and systems (CSC/IEC/TC 111). Representation is required from the following membership categories: consumers, industry especially in the environmental protection and/or chemistry related fields, regulators and manufacturers.

The draft scope of CSC/IEC/TC 111 is:
To prepare the necessary guidelines, basic and horizontal standards, including, technical reports in the environmental area, in close cooperation with product committees of IEC that remain autonomous in dealing with the environmental aspects relevant to their products; To assist product committees in the elaboration of environmental requirements of product standards in order to avoid different technical approaches and solutions for the same problem; To liaise with IEC's Advisory Committee on Environmental Aspects and ISO/TC 207, Environmental Management; and To monitor closely the corresponding regional standardization activities in order to become a focal point for discussions concerning standardization and national standards and legislative matters.

The Standards Council of Canada is looking for technical experts from the various Canadian companies that have a stake in the implementation of this technology to participate in the review and drafting of standards.

What is Expected?

    * Active participation, commitment and a willingness to undertake committee work and prepare required reports and meeting documents in an electronic environment.
    * Ability and willingness to meet and respect deadlines and follow SCC procedures, directives and committee terms of reference.
    * Ability to travel and attend meetings internationally (may be required, typically 1-3 times per year).
    * Represent stakeholder groups and views. Consult with constituency and bring their concerns to the table.
    * Possess technical knowledge and or experience related to the subject matter.
