Call for Interest: Proposal for the development of management systems standards for road traffic safety

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking feedback on a proposal submitted by the Swedish Standards Institute (SIS) to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for the development of a new international management system standard for road traffic safety.

The new work item would outline the principles of road traffic safety, as well as requirements and guidelines for the implementation of a road traffic safety management system.

Scope of the proposed work:

  • Establish the requirements for a road traffic safety management system;
  • Provide guidance for implementing road traffic safety objectives; Introduce the concept of Traffic Safety Performance Indicators;
  • and Address the needs of all stakeholders, including infrastructure experts, authorities, consumers, transportation service providers, governments, and vehicle manufacturers, among others.

As the official Canadian member of ISO, SCC is seeking comments on the proposal from affected stakeholders.
