Call for Interest: Proposal for a new field of technical activity on fraud countermeasures and controls

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking comments from affected stakeholders on a proposal for a new International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) on Fraud Countermeasures and Controls. The proposal was developed and submitted by the North American Security Products Organization (NASPO), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The document addresses standardization in the field of detection, prevention and control of identity, financial, product and other forms of social and economic fraud.

Scope of the proposed work:

The scope of the proposal includes standardization in areas such as the detection, prevention, and control of social and economic fraud, including identity, financial, and product fraud. It aims to bring together standards developers, criminologists, and experts in the fields of anti-fraud countermeasures and controls to form a TC that will initiate, evaluate, and support the standards being developed in this field.

Standards developed by the proposed committee would provide a framework of support for public and private initiatives in diminishing the effects of fraud.

For more information, or to submit comments, including support for or opposition to the proposal, please contact Lynne Gibbens, Senior Program Officer ISO via email, [email protected] or by telephone +1 613 238 3222 ext. 452.

All comments submitted to SCC will be considered to generate a recommended Canadian position and comments on this proposal.

The deadline for submission is December 15, 2008
