Call for Membership: Corrosion of Metal and Alloys, Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC) of ISO/TC 156

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking interested parties to participate on Corrosion of Metals and Alloys, (CAC/ISO/TC 156) and represent the following membership categories: consumers, industry, regulators and manufacturers.

NOTE: Corrosion control industry is of immense importance to Canada. Numerous studies determined that loss of materials due to corrosion degradation amounts annually up to 10% of GNP. The same studies determined that 1/2 of this loss can be prevented by application of existing engineering knowledge, usually encoded in Standards. Since Canada has no national effort in developing corrosion control standards, participation in ISO standardization effort is essential in safeguarding Canada's national interest by providing active input into elaboration of corrosion control standards, which become de facto Canadian National Standards.

The scope of CAC/ISO/TC 156 is:

Standardization in the field of corrosion of metals and alloys including corrosion test methods and corrosion prevention methods. General coordination of activities in these fields within ISO.

What is Expected?

Possess the technical knowledge and or experience related to the subject matter

• Active participation, commitment and a willingness to undertake committee work and prepare required reports and meeting documents in an electronic environment.
• Ability and willingness to meet and respect deadlines and follow SCC procedures, directives and committee terms of reference.
• Ability to travel and attend meetings internationally may be required (typically 1-3 times per year)
• Represent stakeholder groups and views. Consult with your constituency and bring their concerns to the table.
