Potentially explosive atmospheres (Proposed ISO Work Item)

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking interested stakeholders to participate and comment on a new work item--proposed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)--to develop an international standard on "Potentially explosive atmospheres, explosion prevention and protection".

Scope of the Proposed Field of Activity:  Standardization in the field of explosion prevention and protection.  Drawing up of standards relating to test methods for determining the flammability characteristics of substances, fire equipment and protective systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, equipment and systems for explosion prevention and protection and, terminology and methodology in the field of potentially explosive atmospheres.
Excluded:  Standardization of electrical apparatus for explosive atmospheres

The Standards Council of Canada is looking for technical experts from the various Canadian companies and individuals that have a stake in the implementation of a new standard to participate in the review and drafting of same.
What SCC Expects:

    * Possess the technical knowledge and/or experience related to the subject matter.
    * Active participation, commitment and a willingness to undertake committee work and prepare required reports and meeting documents in an electronic environment.
    * Ability and willingness to meet and respect deadlines and follow SCC procedures, directives and committee terms of reference.
    * Represent stakeholder groups and views. Consult with constituency and bring their concerns to the table.
