Fire Hazard Testing (CSC/IEC/TC 89) [campaign closed]

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking interested parties to participate in a Canadian subcommittee on "Fire Hazard Testing" (CSC/IEC/TC 89).  Representation is required from the following membership categories: consumers, industry, regulators and manufacturers.

This subcommittee (CSC/IEC/TC 89) prepares international standards, technical specifications and technical reports in the areas of:

    * Fire hazard assessment, fire safety engineering and terminology as related to electrotechnical products;
    * Measurement of fire effluent (e.g. smoke, corrosivity, toxic gases and abnormal heat), and reviews of the state of the art of current test methods as related to electrotechnical products;
    * Widely applicable small scale test methods for use in product standards and by manufacturers and regulators;
    * Horizontal safety function; and,
    * Guidance and test methods for assessing fire hazards of electrotechnical equipment, their parts (including components) and electrical insulating materials.

The Standards Council of Canada is looking for technical experts from various Canadian companies that have a vested interest and wish to participate in the review and drafting of standards.  This call for membership represents an opportunity to be part of the process, by contributing and supporting the Canadian position.

What is Expected?

    * Possess the technical knowledge and or experience related to the subject matter.
    * Active participation, commitment and a willingness to undertake committee work and prepare required reports and meeting documents in an electronic environment.
    * Ability and willingness to meet and respect deadlines and follow SCC procedures, directives and committee terms of reference.
    * Ability to travel and attend meetings internationally may be required (typically 1-3 times per year)
    * Represent stakeholder groups and views. Consult with your constituency and bring their concerns to the table.

Individuals are invited to submit their Curriculum Vitae (CV) along with a statement outlining their interest and ability to contribute to the work of the CSC/IEC/TC 89, to the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) by April 15, 2004.
