The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking interested stakeholders representing industry, regulators and consumers to participate on its Canadian committee for the development of international standards on cleaning equipment for air and other gases.

Scope of work

This committee reviews and develops standards in the fields of terminology, classification, characteristics, and test and performance methods for air and gas cleaning equipment for general ventilation and industrial applications. Both particulate and gaseous contaminant filters are covered.

Specifically excluded because they are covered by other ISO technical committees are:

  • exhaust gas cleaners for gas turbines and IC engines in mobile equipment;
  • filters for personal protection equipment; and
  • cabin filters in mobile equipment.

Deadline for submission

Interested parties should submit their Curriculum Vitae along with a statement outlining their ability to contribute to the work of the committee April 30, 2009.

Benefits of Participation

  • provides participants with relevant information on emerging trends and changing practices;
  • exposes committee members to the expertise and research of organizations within similar sectors. This increased knowledge translates into enhanced designs and new ideas;
  • provides individuals with opportunities to gain valuable skills and knowledge; and
  • incorporating voluntary standards into regulation lessens the burden of regulatory compliance on industry, and allows governments to contribute to increased economic growth and competitiveness.
