Call for Interest: Proposal for the development of an international standard for network services billing

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking feedback on the development of a new international standard for network services billing, put forth by the International Organization for Standardization Committee on Consumer Policy (ISO/COPOLCO).

The proposed work item would involve setting benchmarks for addressing frequently identified complaints and improved client relations.  While designed for gas and electricity utilities, the proposed Standardization of Network services billing standard could also be adopted by other utilities such as water and telecommunications utilities.

Scope of the proposed work:

  • Establishing a framework for transparent billing information, inquiry and redress systems;
  • Customer-oriented billing; and
  • Provision of retail network services standards.

For more information or to submit comments, contact Lynne Gibbens, Senior Program Officer ISO, via email ([email protected]) or by telephone (613) 238 3222 ext. 452.

The deadline for comments is April 1, 2007.
