Societal Security (CAC/ISO/TC 223)

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking interested parties to participate on the committee of Societal Security (CAC/ISO/TC 223) and represent the following membership categories: consumers, industry, regulators and manufacturers.

You are invited to submit your curriculum vitae, along with a statement outlining your interests and ability to contribute to the work of the “CAC/ISO/TC 223", to Holly Bourque (Program Officer, ISO, Standards Council of Canada) by January 31, 2006.

Scope

    *

      Standardization in the field of civil defence (protection)
    * Monitoring and prediction of emergency situations of natural and technogenic character
    * Elimination of consequence from natural disasters, emergencies and catastrophes
    * Tools, equipment and outfit for human salvation
    * Public safety systems, training and education of population

    * Mailings of draft standards for your information and comment
    * Ability to submit your own initiatives through the Standards Council of Canada
    * Attendance of selected events and committee meetings

What is Expected?

    * Possess the technical knowledge and or experience related to the subject matter
    * Active participation, commitment and a willingness to undertake committee work and prepare required reports and meeting documents in an electronic environment
    * Ability and willingness to meet and respect deadlines and follow SCC procedures, directives and committee terms of reference
    * Represent stakeholder groups and views
    * Consult with your constituency and bring their concerns to the table.
