Asset Publisher Canadian school wins prestigious ISO Award for Higher Education in Standardization2011-09-27The Canadian delegation to the ISO General Assembly, from left to right: G. Rae Dulmage (ULC), Norma McCormick (COPOLCO), François Coallier (École de technologie supérieure), Jeanne Bank (CSA), Lynne Gibbens (SCC), John Walter (SCC) The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) joins the international standardization community in congratulating Canada’s École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) on its receipt of the prestigious ISO Award for Higher Education in Standardization. ÉTS was selected above all for its integration of standardization aspects into conventional disciplines, such as IT and software engineering. Additionally, it was noted for its introduction of standards education in engineering subjects, such as machinery and chemistry, by experienced professors who participate in the work of technical committees and subcommittees. In terms of standards development, ÉTS hosts the international secretariat for ISO’s technical committee on software and systems engineering (JTC 1/SC 7). François Coallier, featured in the above photo, is Chair of this committee. The award was presented at the 34th ISO General Assembly in New Delhi, India and comprises a certificate of appreciation and cash prize of 15,000 Swiss francs.
