Recommendations of May 2003 Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34/WG1 in London

1. Amendment to ISO 9573

WG1 recommends the acceptance of concepts proposed by members of the W3C MathML group that the ISO 9573 entity sets should be updated so that the results of parsing the entity references should be a standardized mapping to an ISO/IEC 10646 UCS character, as represented by a hexadecimal character reference. However, such updates should not be restricted to just those character sets related to mathematics defined in Part 13 of the technical report, but should encompass the redefinition of all entity sets for character specification within ISO 9573. The UK is to seek an editor to undertake this work.

2. DSDL Part Numbering

WG1 recommends that, in line with ISO rules on part numbering, the existing Part 0 be renumbered Part 1, and that what was previously Part 1: Framework becomes Part 10: Validation Management.

3. Resolution of Comments on Part 0

WG1 recommends that N414 be accepted as the disposition of comments for the comments provided on Part 0 in N0390. The editor is instructed to produce a revised CD based on this, taking into account the renumbering and renaming of parts determined in Recommendation 2.

4. Resolution of Comments on Part 4

WG1 recommends that N415 be accepted as the disposition of comments for the comments provided on Part 4 in N0389. The editor is instructed produce a revised document based on these comments and the ISO directives on document structure and then , after electronic review of the draft within the group, submit this document for FCD review by national bodies.

5. Progressing ISO/IEC 19757-2 project

ISO is to be supplied with a revised PDF file for publication of this standard incorporating the revised Part names and numbers, but not otherwise changing the text of the standard.

Note: The XML files, which are non-standard due to the need to express the constraints associated with the language, are not suitable for processing within ISO and will not be submitted to ISO.
