NEN is against a Category A liaison between JTC 1/SC 34 and the XML Guild because:

  • XML Guild is a group of experts and not a ‘broadly based regional organization’ as required by the JTC 1 directives (3.3.4.1);
  • XML is one of the subjects in JTC 1/SC 34 but not the main subject as required by the directives (3.3.42) ‘ Organizations which make an effective contribution * for most of the questions dealt with by the committee’.
