World Environment Day 2011

Celebrated every year on June 5, the theme for World Environment Day 2011 is “Forests: Nature at Your Service”. World Environment Day began in 1972 and has grown to become the one of the main vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action.

Many members of Canada’s national standardization network are actively involved in activities that support the goals of World Environment Day. Accreditation to environmental management standards by the forestry sector is one example.
