Q: What does it mean when you say that medical labs are "accredited" under the Medical Laboratories program?

A: This means a laboratory has been assessed by a third-party auditor and has been determined to operate according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)’s standards for medical laboratories – quality and competence (ISO 15189). This third-party assessment gives clients the reassurance that this determination has been made impartially, and gives confidence that the laboratory is competent to produce reliable results.
